Comment on 'The New Macho'

I am grateful for what is missing from the attached article "The New Macho", because it's helping me be clear about something important. "Choice" is missing from the article. It exhaustively describes loving acts but doesn't once talk about what MAKES them loving... Choice. I can cite any characteristic from the article and turn it into either a good or bad thing by changing the underlying choice for doing it. As an example, the first item cited as a good quality for a man: "He cleans up after himself." This is deceiving, and I'll prove it. If a man cleans up after himself because he knows it is a good choice for him, that is good. If a man cleans up after himself only because he is told it's a good choice for him, that's bad. Making reactive choices is wrong... it makes them conditional. Making choices in an unconditional way is what makes an act truly valuable... the independent selflessness... the unconditional nature ...

Life is Temporary

A patient (Leonard) awakens from a 30 year coma because his doctor finds a new drug that relieves his condition... Leonard : "My name is Leonard Lowe. Dr.Sayer : "When did you know it wasn't a dream?" Leonard : "When I spoke and you understood me." The effects of the test drug turn out to be temporary, and so after living "normally" for a while, Leonard begins to revert back to his original comatose state. As this is happening, the doctor asks... Dr.Sayer : "How kind is it to give life, only to take it away again?" Eleanor (nurse): "It's given and taken away from all of us." This is the truth. All life is the same as this. It begins when we slowly start recognizing we're alive and not in a dream because ...

No Heat = Singularity

In the video below, I find interesting the core suggestion that the removal of heat from matter literally makes it "one with everything". For me, this makes the idea of death and a body "going cold" a bit more interesting than usual. At the same time, it prompts me to see the idea of separateness versus oneness on a "heat scale" rather than the other ways I've viewed it before.
