My need to analyze things in deep detail has a lot to do with growing up a social outcast and developing an identity necessary to survive in that situation. Talking with others has helped me recognize this same kind of problem from a perspective I didn't personally experience. I've been learning about people who grew up being very physically active and how that became their identity... but then changes to their body later in life eroded that identity and created psychological problems. For people having this experience, the challenge was learning how to feel socially equal again with a body that can't do the things it used to be able to do. Their identity was tied to their body's previous ability and now needs to be reprogrammed to match their new physical state.
